Liberty Statue's crown
Hi there,
The next exciting visit with our French friends was the Liberty Statue and climbing into the crown !
We've already been to the Liberty Statue but it was the first time at the crown. We had to book it 6 month before!
Kids were very excited ! One more time the weather was amazing.
First stop at Ellis Island.
As the first time, we didn't find the museum of imigration very interesting for children, sorry for "foreign children". There are so many things to read and no interactive activities to keep focused people that are not very good in English. Audio-guide are not a good idea either with children because one has to stand up still in front of boards with a lot of writing on them... So not easy-peasy...
But as Ellis Island is a National Historic Monument, there is a Junior Ranger badge to earn !
Let's go to these activities (possible with minimal translation and explications)...
... plus we learnt a couple of things at least,...
... and we had a team of Junior Rangers !
On the other hand, Manathan's view was awesome !
Titouan still need a look for the statue's pause...
Yes, like this !
We had a great time, eating our lunch outside with this amazing weather and view (even if I don't recommend the super healthy organic food at The Ellis Island Café).
The Statue, at last !
We climbed the 354 steps of the double spiral stairs. Up.
It's very teey-tiny in there ! I didn't figure it out before. I don't know why, I imagined a large room not as large as the Freedom Tower for example, but when you look at the head of the Statue, it's impossible !
The ranger at the top of the crown is quite an expert in taking group picture in there !
Nope !
And then down, direction to the museum of the Statue !
So creative !
Stop in the middle, a little bit windy up there !
And last the traditional stop to the gift shop : fantastic !
On our way back, the cruise has been a little bit more turbulent !
Such a great day again !
See ya !
